Sunday 27.04.2025 11:00-15:00 | Phytogram Workshop with Juliana Julieta | Bluna Keller Köln-Nippes | Free of charge, donations are welcome | Registration needed

Juliana Julieta (Porto, Portugal) is a visual artist working in the fields of painting and experimental cinema. In her work with film or oil painting (handmade media),

she explores the sensitive/organic physicality of materials and processes, inquiring about a tactile, sensorial, cumulative and phenomenological relationship to creating images.

She is a member of Laboratório da Torre and collaborates with Casa do Xisto as a 16mm instructor in eco-processing workshops.

In this phytogram workshop we will use organic materials (flowers, leaves, fruits) which will impress their form and particular chemistry onto the sensitive 16mm and 35mm film.

This is a daylight experimental non-toxic process that allows an intimate understanding of the landscape and their plants (shapes and polyphenols) on a macro and cellular level.

Spring is here and offers an exercise of sharing and exploring the vast possibilities of experimental cinema, a practical activity where we will create motion pictures without the use of a camera.

The free of charge workshop with Juliana takes place on Sunday the 27th of April from 11:00 to 15:00 at Bluna Keller in Köln-Nippes.

After a short introduction we will have a walk to the nearby Nippeser Tälchen (3 minutes from Bluna Keller) to collect plants and flowers for making the phytograms.

There will be lunch and drinks on donation basis. At the end we will project the participants’ results on a 16mm projector.

The workshop will be held in English.
