Hrvoje Spudić is a Croatian artist who specialises in the technological exploration of light and sound, with a strong emphasis on the do-it-yourself (DIY) approach. His work incorporates modern electronics, 3D printing, and traditional devices such as 16 mm projectors and cameras. One of his works is the ‘Rotoprojector’, a device that adds an extra spatial dimension to images via the rotation of the projection device. Spudić describes it as follows: ‘The Rotoprojector is a research project that deals with the transformation of a film projection into physical space, using mechanical means and physiological phenomena of afterimages and persistence of vision.’ Besides the ‘Rotoprojector’, Hrvoje will present a sound performance that is based on DIY optical sound reproduction working with analogue film.
Spudić graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in 2015 and now lives and works in Zagreb, where he leads workshops on photography and design. He is also co-founder of ‘This Town Needs Posters,’ a collective dedicated to DIY poster printing for the alternative music scene, as well as an active member of the Klubvizija Artist Run Film Lab and an associate of the 25fps film festival.

Hrvoje Spudić ist ein kroatischer Künstler, der sich auf die technische Erforschung von Licht und Ton spezialisiert hat, meist mit dem Ansatz des DIY (Do it yourself) Prinzips. Seine Arbeiten verbinden moderne Elektronik und 3D-Druck mit 16mm-Projektoren und Kameras. Eines seiner Werke ist der Rotoprojektor, ein Gerät, das Bildern durch die Rotation des Projektionsapparates eine zusätzliche räumliche Dimension verleiht. Spudić beschreibt ihn wie folgt: „Der Rotoprojektor ist ein Forschungsprojekt, das sich mit der Transformation einer Filmprojektion im physischen Raum beschäftigt – mittels mechanischer Mittel und physiologischer Phänomene wie Nachbildern und der Persistenz des Sehens.“
Neben dem Rotoprojektor präsentiert Hrvoje auch eine Sound Performance, die auf der Wiedergabe von Optical Sound basiert und mit analogem Film arbeitet.
Spudić schloss 2015 sein Studium an der Fakultät für Architektur ab. Er lebt und arbeitet heute in Zagreb, wo er Workshops zu Fotografie und Design leitet. Außerdem ist er Mitbegründer von This Town Needs Posters, einem Kollektiv für DIY-Posterdruck in der alternativen Musikszene, ein aktives Mitglied des Klubvizija Artist Run Film Lab und Mitarbeiter des 25fps Filmfestivals.
